When installing this intake grate, the space between the intake grate and pump needs to be sealed with silicone. This spot has a gasket from factory and needs to be sealed while using this aftermarket grate. We recommend silicone to make a strong seal. If you don’t want the intake grate sealed to the pump, we recommend applying wax onto the intake grate before sealing with the silicone so you can later remove it easily for maintenance, etc.
